Michael Highfield spent years working in the maintenance field while going to school for an associate’s degree. When he finished, he set out to look for a place to call home. He feels that to have found it working for Guided Discoveries has been a pleasure. He loves being able to call Catalina Island home and work to keep our facilities running in a sustainable fashion.
In 2008, Michael began working at the AstroCamp campus. He learned the importance of the job is not just to clean and fix the facility, but also to provide a positive educational memory, where our guests can build a foundation for positive learning habits and gain positive personal behavior. He knows that smooth background operations lead to more joyful experiences for campers, and he is passionate about maximizing that joy!
In 2018, Michael was given the opportunity to work at Fox Landing, and teach a crew of people his passion for maintenance. Each day his crew works hard to make Fox a safe and clean environment for our guest. Michael is proud of his team’s commitment to handling all maintenance concerns swiftly and efficiently. Please come and enjoy our campus.
