CIMI at Cherry Cove programs provide a unique and exciting learning experience perfect for enhancing any student’s education.
By focusing on hands-on experiential science, and utilizing our state of the art labs and equipment, we strive to increase science literacy. Our expert instructors use the natural land and sea environments of beautiful Catalina Island to stimulate minds, and most importantly, to create excitement about science. We are confident that by the time our campers have left us, they will not only have learned a lot of new science topics and skills, but they will be deeply committed to learning more about them for the remainder of their lives.
During our three– or five-day programs, students and teachers have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the diverse flora and fauna found in the Southern California ocean that surrounds Catalina Island. Students will get outdoors through hiking and other ecology programs in order to ensure that they experience everything that our beautiful island habitat has to offer.
Through a combination of labs, aquariums, and touch tanks on land, as well as snorkeling, kayaking and data collection in the field, students and teachers learn about the many ecosystems of the island and get to interact with many of the island’s various inhabitants.
