Cherry Cove Program Director
“Guided Discoveries combines everything that I ever wanted in a job. We see countless students and campers move through our programs and have life-changing experiences in and around the ocean. It’s incredibly gratifying to witness children having “a-ha” moments and to know that we’re empowering them with knowledge of marine science,” says Britt Swanwick of her passion for working at CIMI at Cherry Cove.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Britt spent her childhood summers at “the shore” digging up sand crabs and fishing. Interested in pursuing a career involving the ocean, she set off to obtain a B.S. in Marine Biology at the University of Rhode Island, and she later received a M.A. in Environmental Education.
Britt’s career with Guided Discoveries began in 2014 as a Marine Science Instructor at Toyon Bay, where she additionally worked as an Aquarist. Upon leaving Catalina Island in 2016, she continued to work for Guided Discoveries at AstroCamp Virginia & Camp Motorsport as Educational Programming Coordinator and Motorsport Instructor. The opportunity to return to Catalina presented itself in the form of the Program Director position at Cherry Cove, and she couldn’t say no!
